Hi, I want to have an XHTML site that has 50-100 MP3s available to listen to. I want them to simply be presented in a list and not like a jukebox type of thing and am wondering, 1, what is the best format to export in, MP3 or MP4 and on a mac what is the best software to use to do so. Also, what code do I use to have them stream and play on the web, and are there any examples of this anywhere?

hmm… mp3 always IMO, what do you mean by on a Mac? Like what program converts music into MP3s? Depends on what file format you’re trying to convert, from a .wav .aiff or from CD. Mainly I think though you can use iTunes to convert them all, w/ a CD you can just export and it will create an MP3 into your library.

Also, one site that does that you’re talkin’ about off the top of my head is something like either [mp3.com](http://mp3.com) or [cdnow.com](http://cdnow.com) Ok so that’s 2 sites. I don’t know if that’s exactly what you want but those 2 just came to mind.

What about the code? Look at those site… look how they are calling the mp3’s to play.

On a MAC if that’s what you’re gearing towards if you just have a link to the mp3 it will automatically open up in QuickTime, which in that case all you need is a link. There are other things you can do as well as using RealPlayer, WMP… all of which when you click will play in the browser, when you click the mp3.
