okay i was on my pc watching a I AM LEGEND trailer (just finished the book…REALLY good) and as SOON as the trailer fiished…the pc shut down…i was like WTF…okay, so then i turned it back on, and everything came on fine until the vista load screen then BAM! shut down again…i started to get angry and freaked out (couple of projects i havent backed up yet)so i left it alone for a few minutes, came back, turned it back on and everythings now fine…or so i thought

a few minutes later, i go to burn a cd and i notice that nothings showing up, not my dvd burner…not my cd drive under that…nothing…so i look in the hardware manager or device manager whatever u wanna call it, and i see that all my disc drives have the lil diamond sign with the exclamation sign in the middle meaning it aint working…

i click on the “search online for driver update” and after like 20 minutes…both say that my drivers are all uptodate AND “working properly”
obviously its not cause i still see the diamond sign flagged above the disc drives.

i restart and do a SYSTEM RESTORE and rolled it back to yesterday and its STILL messed up. system restore completed just fine and nothing.

can anyone PLEASE help and tell me what i can do next? preferably a solution that doesnt have me dismantling my pc…its been a while and im not that comfortable with it anymore
