# Symbol question

What is the best practice regarding nesting symbols? Here’s what I mean: I have to build a scene that is basically a side view of some grass, so a bunch of single blades of grass from the side view of different sizes and shade.

If I draw them all in one symbol, the moment they touch each other they become one shape, and then I cannot adjust them.

I could make say 4 different single symbols, each one slightly different. Then I can bring them all into another symbol and place them accordingly. So I have nested the symbols, but I think I have what I want so that when I place the “combined” symbol in my movie I can always go back and adjust it.

Is this normally how you do it? Is it okay to nest like that and how many times can you nest? Does it affect performance?
