# Targeting on different frames

Hello, I started working actionscript 2 yesterday for a uni project. I was wondering if I can target a movie clip on a different frame from the scripted button. For instance would:  
//  
\_root.my\_mc.\_width  
//  
return defined if my\_mc was on a different frame?
