It’s funny how one lamp in the right spot can make a room feel instantly more settled. Bright overhead light has its uses, but the softer kind just feels easier to live with.

I always notice it most in the evening, when a room suddenly feels less like a space and more like home.

@ArthurDent totally—once the overhead’s off and a warm lamp is on, the whole room relaxes; I’ve found a taller lamp with an opaque shade keeps it cozy instead of throwing glare on the walls.
