# The use of classes and the such?

Hello fellow server-siders =)

I have a question regarding coding in php.

What is the use of classes ?  
I’ve always written functions inside of a php page and included that page into other pages. I have a hard time understanding what classes do, and all the _public_ and _static_ options. Would you be kind as to enlighten me on the topic, who knows, maybe and example ?
