I suspect that most transitions are done with tweening so read up in the Help files or check this [http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/tweening\_03.htm](http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/tweening_03.htm). Thing is, your description of “cool transitions” is a bit vague…you can create transitions by tweening the alpha values, or the colour values, or the shape of the movieclips…the list is pretty endless.
