# Transitional or loose?

this is what dreamweaver puts in as default -  
\<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN”  
“[http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd](http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd)”\>

so i leave it as it is.

but, when validating the html on [w3.org](http://w3.org), i get a few of these -

document type does not allow element “BODY” here  
document type does not allow element “TR” here  
document type does not allow element “H3” here; missing one of “APPLET”, “OBJECT”, “MAP”, “IFRAME”, “BUTTON” start-tag.
