Is there a way? :ne:

Here you can do anything you want. you can use another movie clips and play with it, you can use the drawing api to do some fancy stuff. you can just clear the screen and run a pre-loader. I am not really sure what you would like to do without tweens but you can simulate tweens ina transition the same way that you would in a normal movie.

Okay, I’m trying to do exactly the same thing. I can incorporate samples provided here and from Flash ‘as-is’ but I am having issues modifying them to my needs.

I am looking to have a ‘blur’ transition in between movies when a button is selected. Just like **mpelland** mentioned in the 1,2,3 format. Fairly simple if I want to use the tween method and Flash 8’s new blue properties, but I would like to start using AS.

Here is my setup:

Main Movie/Stage/\_root
–\>menu / instance menu (this holds my navigation/buttons)
–\>content\_mc / instance content (consist of eight frames with another mc in each)
—\>about us / instance mc1
—\>services / instance mc2
—\>you get the point / instance mc3

The following is a generic tween supplied by Flash and they don’t do the traditional Kirupa line by line explanation so I don’t know how to modify it to what I want it to do.

```auto
import flash.filters.BlurFilter;
import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
this.createEmptyMovieClip("holder_mc", 10);
holder_mc.createEmptyMovieClip("img_mc", 20);
var mclListener:Object = new Object();
mclListener.onLoadInit = function(target_mc:MovieClip) {
   target_mc._x = (Stage.width - target_mc._width) / 2;
   target_mc._y = (Stage.height - target_mc._height) / 2;
   var myTween:Tween = new Tween(target_mc, "blur", Strong.easeInOut, 0, 20, 3, true);
   myTween.onMotionChanged = function() {
      target_mc._parent.filters = [new BlurFilter(target_mc.blur, target_mc.blur, 1)];
   };
   myTween.onMotionFinished = function() {
      myTween.yoyo();
   }
};
var my_mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
my_mcl.addListener(mclListener);
my_mcl.loadClip("http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/images/image1.jpg", holder_mc.img_mc);
```

I’m trying to get a blur on click between transitions, but I’m not having success. I’m trying to modify what the Flash example has. I’m not sure if I need to apply it to the ‘content’ instance or make a tween for each individual instance of the sub movies (i.e. mc1, mc2, etc.).

In close, how do I make it recognize when to blur in and when to blur out?

I know the blur is a Flash 8 filter, so even if I can get assistance on how to use the Alpha via AS with some easing I might be able to go from there…might be. 😏

I know, I’m a lost cause. 🙂

Thanks

I’m trying to figure this out too! I’m using external SWFs and following the Kirupa transitions tutorial. One of my SWFs fades in and out beautifully…I basically just tweened everything within the .fla file itself. But the other SWF is much more complicated (lots of layers and AS) and I can’t figure out how to apply the fade to it. I need help! :-/

Yeah, AS gets real complicated really quick. You can find the AS code I pasted above in action [here](http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flash/articles/animation_guide_14.html). They show the blur effect tweening. That’s what I’m trying to do, but only as a transition on a button click.

Actually I just need it to ‘blur in’ on click since every movie will be have the same effect, there’s no need to ‘blur in’ and ‘blur out’ unless I was going to have a different effect as it unloaded.

Hell, I don’t know anymore. :tired:
