# \[Tutorial question\] PHP 5 Sockets with Flash 8

Greetings

I get this error when I do the command prompt stuff explained in page 5 of the [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/php5sockets\_flash8.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/php5sockets_flash8.htm) tutorial:

**Fatal error: Call to undefined function socket\_create()**

After I received that ugly output I checked [php.net](http://php.net) and found this:

**Installation**

The socket functions described here are part of an extension to PHP which must be enabled at compile time by giving the --enable-sockets option to **configure**.

Does this mean that I need to alter the php.ini file?

If you know what I need to do to make the chat work I’d really appreciate your help!
