# UIScrollBar in Flash 8

have tried skinning the uiscrollbar with no success - still shows the default Halo Theme green colour buttons. i have followed the Flash help files, watched tutorials and read many articles. i then came upon Kirupa’s scrollbar that i think will do the business, however, my application requires the input of dynamic text of various numbers of characters and the tutorial works on a fixed size of text field. after loading the text into a dynamic text field via loadVars how can i determine the “length” of the text? any ideas with example actionscript would be greatly welcome. you may have realsied by now that i am quite a novice at this new stuff and my expertise goes back to the days of Fortran, COBOL etc!!!
