# Using HTML tags in externally loaded .txt file

Hey there,  
This is an amazing site! I just registered so I could post my first question…

I am working in Flash MX2004 on a Mac running OS 10.3.9:

So I am loading an external .txt file into a Scrollable Dynamic Text Field, but I would like to include some HTML formatted text in the .txt file (for example, links, font colors, etc.).  
I tried selecting the “Render text as HTML” button in the property manager in my main file, but this doesn’t seem to be working. When the text file loads, I can see all the HTML code and no formatting is taking place.

Can anyone help a newbie Flash programmer?? I would very much appreciate it.
