# Variable trouble

Hi, I am trying to pass a string into a dynamic text box using FlashVars. If I create a new layer on the root timeline then it works fine.

However, the variable I need to reference is stored within a graphic (which could be converted if needed).

Do I need to reference some kind of path to the variable? I have looked around and it seems that /movieclip:varname should work but Flash throws an error.

If anybody could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
