# Video Licensing Issues

Not sure if this is the right forum… a friend of mine wants to create a client-side application that converts video into the Flash video format.

I’ve created Flash video presentations before, but not a client-side app that relies on Flash to convert video files to Flash format.

I program in .NET. Is there a DLL I can register with my application so I can call Flash video conversion and file-saving (SWF)?

I can program Windows apps, and Web apps with Flash, but I haven’t ‘called’ Flash functions like Saving or Video Rendering from within an app. My friend was concerned that the licensing is $40,000 with Macromedia.
