# Web counter problem

hi, the web counter tutorial i downloaded here at [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/hitcounter.htm](http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/hitcounter.htm) doesn’t seem to be working for me…i have flash cs3 and i opened the .fla, when i go to run the project these two errors come up…
Error opening URL ‘file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/David%20Donoghue/Desktop/counter/counter.php?num=823’
Error opening URL ‘file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/David%20Donoghue/Desktop/counter/count.txt?num=606’
does anyone know how i can fix this?
i copied the files into dreamweaver and the counter displays on the page but does not increment at all…
very grateful for any help!!

If you read the tut - it requires “ **most importantly a server that supports php 3 or higher** ”
do you have this? you need to be testing this on a webserver, not on your computer…

hi,
thanks for the reply but i found out what was wrong…the permissions were set wrong on the txt file, it works now!
