What monitor do you work on? Brand, size etc 🙂 And what do you feel is the optimal monitor size and native res to work on? ---

I’ve got dual noname 19in monitors running 1280X1024 each. A Fujiplus and an Optiquest. They are actually great and though most people complain about having two different brand of monitors it gives me a great reality check on color when doing print work as they do vary a bit. ---

i’ve got a 24inch imac and a 21 inch apple cinema display I’d never pay for an apple cinema display - but I traded some paintings for it, so booyah So i’m running 1920x1280 and 1680x1050, which is huge, combined width of 3200 pixels… I think “optimal” is arbitrary though… the bigger the better!~! @DJ_kyron: YES DEFINITELY use HDMI-DVI, its sharper, truer to colours, and overall, better . You’ll notice the difference as soon as you switch ---

I have an HP w2207 which is a wide-screen monitor. It’s pretty sick. I also have a large collection of random monitors that are boring. ---

I’ve been waiting on a good 24" S-IPS monitor…Hazro has a great monitor but AFAIK it’s only sold in Europe at this point. For my desktop PC, I have an old Viewsonic 17" LCD…It’s going on almost 4 years or so now. ---

All Dell 1280x800 Glossy 13.3" screen. 1280x1024 Dual 19" at work. Next monitor I own will be a 30" 2560x1600 when I save up which should be in a few more years. ---

Real contrast ratio would probably be a LOT less. ---

Yep, LG always do that, the dynamic contrast ratio thing. It’s nonsense. Still, I like LG screens, I prefer them to Samsung actually. My girlfriend has a samsung. The PQ is ok, nothing special, but the most annoying thing about it is you can’t adjust the backlight. How common is this for Sammy monitors? Can you adjust the backlight on most of them or not? I’m using my laptop screen and sometimes an old Sony TFT to check for colour checks. I want to buy a new monitor though. I want to spend under 300, preferably around the £250 mark. I was thinking about an LG 22 inch. ---

i had an LG 22" flatron which i just recently gave to my dad, It was “aight”, and “aight” in the sense that I only paid ~$300CAD for it. 3000:1 of real contrast ratio-ness ---

The LG 22" cost me $340, an extra $20 for the DVI cable. And it is dynamic contrast ratio, not contrast ratio. When I was looking at the store , the LG was simply the best, looked a lot better than the Samsung monitors, and was a tad cheaper. ---

A laptop screen and an old Sony. Also - without reading a review of the screen, is it pretty much impossible to know whether it’s got a TN or PVA panel etc? As this isn’t disclosed on the specs. For under 300 I guess I would have to get a smaller PVA panel, or a 22 inch TN panel. ---
