If it cost much less than £400, chances are its a TN panel. ---

A 19" widescreen (viewsonic)… good monitor. A 20.1" Dell Widescreen… better monitor! The Dell is on the left and I love it! I play all of my games on it, run Flash, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. The Viewsonic is on the right and it is a good secondary monitor! I run Firefox on it, Photoshop, and when Flash is open it becomes the home to my actions screen. Having two monitors was a change that I am so happy to have made. It changes your workflow and workspace for the better! ---

@syous, I’m running an 21" apple cinema display alongside my giant imac, and like I said before, I would never spend money on buying an ACD, but I traded my boss 3 big paintings for it, which pretty much evened out I think… Anyways, i’ve got no complaints about it, its not the _best_ quality monitor – especially since its high price tag makes you think its amazing… but it looks ■■■■ good, and gets the job done splendiffically, so i am the happies @theonlycarmire, Agreed. I used to run dual monitors here at work (one of them was my own i brought from home… the 22" LG i mentioned earlier, in fact) but since I took it home and gave it to my dad, I only have this little crappy macbook display to work off of… a big change from what I’m running at home, and everyday I dread coming to work because I don’t have dual screens anymore. (mental note: submit purchase request) ---

So I guess I’ll look at either 20 or 24. ---

When i was buying mine i could only seem to find PVS / IPS monitors 24in or more. The ones I were looking at was the BenQ FP241W and Dell 2408WFP. Both about £450 at the time. ---

That’s interesting. The previous generation of non widescreen TFTs, the 15/17/19 inch screens, were they all TN rather than PVA? I’ve seen a few screens listed as A-Si - do you know what that is? ---

Im running a duel screen setup with a samsung 19in screen (I used to hve 2). They are good but it looks so dull compared to the BenQ. Like I say I havent ever seen a non TN screen smaller than 24in. I dont really know much at all about the different technologies because it is extremely technical but at the time i did read into it before I bought anything. There is information about the pros and cons of the different technologies on lots of websites to get your head around. I know that TN has the disatvantage of being 6bit in terms of colour output compared to the more expensive 8bit PVS etc screens. I was told that for £400 the BenQ / Dell ones have the best quality screens. The BenQ one I was looking at got a glowing review and that was when it cost £645. ---

Yep the black levels on an LCD do suck balls. So does the PQ in general compared to plasma. I bought a couple of decent 32 inch TV’s and took them back, the PQ in non HD stuff was abysmal. I bought a plasma and couldn’t be happier. It was great for everything, HD, SD, and viewing my artwork on. I need another plasma actually, when I have the cash spare I’m going to go Pioneer or Fujitsu. I love the Plasma PQ, and those dark inky blacks. It’s a shame they don’t make plasma monitors 😃 ---

I’ve got a big LG LCD but I’m to blind to tell the difference between CRT, LCD and plasma so it works good. ---

I got a 24" Samsung LCD for $400-ish, with like $200 off additionally since I bought a new computer with it. ---
