# What the...? Simple actionscript stopped working!

Hi guys,

Very odd, I’ve used this very simple technique many times, but for some reason it isn’t working! I’ve got a button which inside is simply a static text field, instance name “news\_btn”, and another button which is also a static text field, instance name “mailing\_btn”. All I want to happen is when you click “mailing\_btn”, “news\_btn” disappears. I’ve tried everything; putting \_alpha or \_visible actionscript on the timeline, on “mailing\_btn”, using \_root, not using \_root…

I’m tearing my hair out, because I’ve done it so many times before, effortlessly!! Can anyone think of a reason it’s not working?? Any suggestions gratefully received!
