Tom Scott just posted again after his break, and this video is basically a quick update on what he’s been up to and how he wants to approach YouTube now.

It mostly shows that consistency is easier to sustain when the cadence matches the actual workload, and the useful signal will be whether he keeps posting on the looser schedule he described.

For tech focused content, it is more challenging since AI has eaten everything up. Outside of interviewing AI leaders, I am not sure there is a future for technical educational content. I’d like to be proven wrong of course 🙂

Technical education still has a future, but the tradeoff shifted from being first with facts to being trusted for judgment, demos, and taste because AI can summarize docs but it still struggles to replace a creator who shows why a choice matters in practice.

It means consistency is less about weekly output now and more about a reliable standard, though the edge case is whether audiences still reward gaps when the algorithm usually punishes them.

Consistency is probably promise-keeping now, not calendar-keeping, and the real test is whether the next few uploads keep their click-through and return-viewer numbers after a long gap rather than just spiking on comeback novelty.
