# Why would I need the HD DVD for my 360?

Hi,

This may be a stupid question, keep in mind I just bought a 360 on black friday. My question is why would I need to purchase that HD DVD player thats an extension of the 360? I thought the 360 played High Def DVD’s, is that not true?

I just got a 56 inch LCD 2 days ago and hooked the 360 to it and it looks awesome. But I noticed that DVD’s aren’t any better than what they were on my 40" HD TV.

So I was going to buy a DVD in HD just to see the difference, now I’m thinking the 360 won’t play a HD DVD.
