Does anyone know anything about linksys wireless routers and their range? I have a WRT54G and for some reason, it acts a bit strange. I live in the dorms and when I’m in my room or any of the 3 rooms adjacent to me, I can get 80-100% signal strength. However when I go past those 3 rooms, I get 0 signal strength and can’t detect the access point.

The funny thing is, I can go downstairs three floors and over approximately 20 15 rooms and end up in our dining commons, where I receive at least 50% signal strength.

I heard that these things are supposed to broadcast their strongest signal horizontally but it appears that mine is vertical.
