# Windows API is lost

If you’re a bit interested in the Windoze OS (this one’s for ya, Kirupa 😉 ), then read this [**(looong) article by software guru Joel Spolsky**](http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/APIWar.html).  
It’s really interesting and at the end, considering what he doesn’t like about todays web-based apps, had me thinking just 2 things: **Flash RIAs and Central**!!  
Even tho’ in his [**latest article**](http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2004/06/17.html) he says "…What I do not want to hear about:

Proprietary tools like Macromedia’s or Java Applets that embed clever widgets in rectangles in a browser. I want this stuff integrated with DHTML and CSS, deeply in the fabric of the web …"
