Hey everyone,
It’s been at least a day since I’ve had a problem. So goody, I’m back with more!
About 2 days ago my computer just quit recognizing the wireless signal from my wireless (g - just like the modem) router. The thing is, the other wireless computer in our house has no problem picking up the signal. So it’s obviously some problem with my computer. I have an internal wireless doo-dad, it just ceased to work out of no where.

If anyone has any idea where to start to fix this problem, please let me know.

Have you tried re-installing the drivers for your wireless “doo-dad?”

I reinstalled the router software, I wouldn’t know how to get the drivers for the wireless modem. I’ll search around a bit for them though, good idea. Thanks =)

Naw, no radios or microwaves or anything else that would interfere with the signal.
Does anyone know a good website to get drivers from? I’m having a bit of a problem finding anything.

try system file checker… start-\> run and type in sfc/ scannow. keep your xp cd handy.

with regards to the drivers, try a google search… what brand of router do u have?

I have a brodcom 54g maxperformance 802.11g modem, and I have a belkin something or other wireless g router. I’m doing all the windows updates to see if they find anything helpful for me, though I doubt it will.
I also tried a google search with not much luck.

or the one that looks just like it down the page you linked me to. I don’t know for sure because it came with the computer and it’s all internal.

Actually I lied, it’s not that one.

It’s somewhere on [www.54g.org](http://www.54g.org) I guess, but I’m having problems figuring it out

Actually I found the driver apparently and am downloading it now. Thanks for your help.
If this doesn’t solve the problem I’m sure I’ll be back with plenty more questions.

So I got the driver and it’s all installed and working fine, except it still won’t recognize a network. It just says networks unavailable or something, obviously there’s some setting or something somewhere for the way it finds networks that I need to change.
Argh, this is so annoying.

Yeah mine ended up being the same stuff there. This is so weird.

wireless networks are total sods, aren’t they? finicky little things…

Hmm, try looking for “broadcast SSID” in your router setttings… I doubt that’ll fix it, but it might 🙂

If you’re using XP, it’s a bit of a hassle. If yours is 2.4Ghz wireless, make sure nobody is using a 2.4Ghz phone in the house, or even better, if you can, change the channel to avoid that problem. In Windows XP, on the client side, right click the little connection icon and click on View Avaliable Connections, select yours there and if you have any encryption, more power to you.
