I have been helping my friend with a new design community. Just to give you a brief
A client comes in and post a contest. the contest offers cash prizes which are guaranteed because they collect the money up front.
Then the designers compete for the prize based on project specs. Which will be awarded and paid through paypal. The designers are handpicked and or screened. Meaning you will have to show a portfolio before being accepted. But being that this is a new community getting in is a little looser for the time being. When they get a good pool of designers they will start posting the contests that they currently have. (which are juicy and will look good on the portfolio).

I joined…heehee…plus designed the skin so comments on that would be cool…oh yeah i am still doing some of the buttons and stuff so no complaints aboput buttons.
