Adding a "sort by" function to a gallery

Hi all,

I have a portfolio page that showcases my work, and am interested in offering the ability to “filter” the thumbmails of each by various tags.

This can be seen in action here www.thefwa.com. The sorting buttons are at the top left.

I’ve read through some of the quicksort tutorial here on kirupa, but am not sure that it’s really what I’m looking for:
