I have spoken with my friend the ISP, and he is eager to find out more about Flash Comm Server, etc.

So, if and when you need a place to set it up, I would be happy to make the connection.

This of course goes for anyone else in TS, who needs some sort of software installed on a server…

awsome

now at the moment, im running the server software on my home machine for tesing whatever i can build. But, I’m planning to launch my own small company with building Rich Media Applications as my area of expertize. For that, im definitely going to need a host with a few special server softwares like FlashComm and Flash Remoting to host my site and im assuming clients’ too. Im definitely gonna consider your ISP friend for the hosting =)

Got any ideas how much will it cost me though?

depending on the traffic…

prob nothing… that is why this is only open to fellow mods.

He wants to experiment with the software, and this would allow him to read up on it, and test some stuff out, so he can go after new business.

and just for the record, I am beginning to hate the word “awesome.” We are using that word as much as the Brits use “Brilliant.”

back to topic:

Just let me know when/if you need it, and I’ll make the hookup.

Rev

oh… wow… brilliant! :beam:

Thanks a lot

I’m actually looking for some place to host my half-done flashcomm chess game, and since im not getting any profit off it im not really planning to pay for the hosting, but once i launch my little business sort of thing, i have no problems with paying for the hosting

Let me know if he would want to sponsor my chess game (and maybe get some traffic through it to his site too), it should be done anytime from now till mid-sept

Again, thanks a lot for the offer, much appreciated

p.s. no more ‘awesome’

I’m sure he would.

go ahead and email me with your requirements, etc.

tim@aulman.com

I’ll set it up

Thanks a lot, I will email you shortly :thumb:

no prob. I kinda want to see how similar Flash Comm and Remoting is to what Generator was…

Generator was an extremely powerful app… :frowning: ;(

Rev

I was planning to learn generator actually, but once i got into this whole server-side deal it was already discontinued :frowning:

I don’t think FlashComm and Generator would be any similar since FlashComm is used for apps that require real-time video/audio/data sharing.

Generator, i think, is more like Flash Remoting how it’s used for server-side operations. Flash Remoting comes in different versions, for the .NET framework and Java. Remoting also works with web services

these are some sample apps that come with the FlashComm installation:

and my tic-tac-toe game:

These are the Remoting for .NET sample apps:

Another example, done with an open-source version of remoting for PHP:

I hope that clears things out a bit =)

that is kinda what I had thought.

thanks for the links
