Aligned dynamically loaded text

hmmm…i’ve searched the forum but can not find an answer to why my text would not begin at the 0,0 origin of my textbox. i’ve copied the tutorial word for word so i dont know what i could have done wrong. Any suggestions from past experiences anyone?

…so am I the only one who’s ever come across this? It just doesn’t fit right to the top, it leaves about 2-3 lines width of text space above it…

I guess so :stuck_out_tongue:

care to make a dummy FLA so we can see? I never had such a problem…

i’d love to , and i will! but i’m literally falling asleep at my computer [eyes closing without realizing it and then popping back to life sort of thing…you know what i’m talking about…lol] so i’ll do it after work tommorow and re-bump this post. hopefully you’re around again then. thanks and talk to you then ahmed.

sure :beam:

I’ll subscribe to this thread too :stuck_out_tongue:

what’s the registration point of the text box? also, fonts have all that leading, descenders, ascenders and kerning stuff, so it’s not like placing a graphic.

“T” sits very differently than “p”, but too much “T” leads to “p” (but don’t confuse leads with leading).

Oops, watch that virtual SARS!

hey! this is an all Canadian thread (is Quebec still part of Canada?)

kindly tell me about the registration point of the textfield

99.99% of the time, my movieclips are always set with the registration point at the upper left. Even though I have seen some pixel fonts that say to set the registration point at the center left.

Actually i was talking about the textfields not movie clip

same with the text fields. here is some crazy mad code to dynamically generate scrolling text fields over at as.org
