One of the most effective places to use CSS transitions is with links (aka hyperlinks for you old-schoolers). If you remember back in the day, your links were very predefined and boring. They were made up of underlined blue text that turned purple once you visited whatever they linked to. They also had a mysterious state where the links would turn red, but you often saw that in real life very rarely.
