I have a master movieclip that holds several items in a list. Each item alternates between two different colored backgrounds to help the users read items in the list easily. Since the items can be any length, the backgrounds are shapes that are being drawn dynamically. I can get everything to work just fine, except for one thing. The items are broken down into categories, and users can turn off categories of the items they no longer want to see. When a category is turned off, this means that some of the backgrounds will no longer alternate. You might have places where two of the same color background are butted next to each other. They weren’t initially, but because an item was hidden when a category was turned off, the two entries on either side of it are now next to each other, and share the same color background.
Does anyone know how to keep the backgrounds dynamic and give them the ability to change state when users turn on and off the categories?
