Any "routing" experts here...?

Ok I have a mn-700 Wireless G Router from Microsoft and I really want to set up a server from my house so I can access it from work. The problem is, I can’t figure the darn thing out. I am using BulletProof FTP as my server software and I know I have it configured right because if I unhook my router and connect directly to my pc from my modem it works just fine.

This is getting crazy.

Here is what I tried last night

  1. I went to Port Forwarding and then to Persistant Port Forwarding.

  2. I typed in a description of “BP Server” put the port range to 1 - 99 TCP

  3. Put in 192.xxx.xxxx.xxx number of the computer on my network that will have the server (I only have one computer on the network, the one I am using, and my Xbox - I made sure to type in the correct number also)

  4. Set the Private Ports to the same as the inbound ports, 1-99

  5. Clicked apply, logged out of the managment tool.

  6. Opend up BP Server and put it on line with a port of 21 and it found the exact same 192.xxx.xxx.xxx number that I told my perssistant port forwarding to.

  7. Fired up Smart FTP, typed in my WAN Address, the username and password I specified in my BP FTP.

  8. It hangs, says it cannot communicate with the server and times out.

What am I doing Wrong! Please someone help. I cannot belive how hard this stuff is. I must really be an idiot

Thank you… in advance.
