Instead of doing a tween with alpha to fade it in from nowhere, I think they’ve done a tween using ‘brightness’. Make a tween of a movieClip and on the first keyframe, you can click the movieClip, then open the combo box in the proporties panel labeled ‘color’ and select brightness, move it to 100% and see if that get’s the desired effect.
