Anyone know of FREE desktop-based bug tracking sw?

Most bug tracking sw is either web-based, or network-based, as it is meant for multiple users. I need bug-tracking or issue-tracking sw that will launch from my desktop and be used by me. Anyone know of a good one?

Free or open-source is a bonus, but an inexpensive product will also work.

Bug-tracking - ie, tracking issues during software development.

If your the only one using it and developing it… a piece of paper?

Install PHP on your computer takes 2 seconds with WAMP and just use a web based one. I also don’t understand whats keeping your from using one made for multiple people for your personal needs.

Also what type of files are you keeping track of like FTL said?

Your computer can be a server for something little like this and really not take up any resources at all.

Why do you care if it’s web based?

I sure appreciate all the helpful suggestions, but I do know what I am looking for.

I have seen some out there that cost something, but if anyone here can recommend one based on actual experience, or know of an open-source solution, please let me know.

since you didn’t specify OS, if you’re using Mac OS you can use bugzai http://bugzai.com/

Loads to choose from. I can’t recommend one for you because I use a web-based one (Mantis) running on my WAMP server at home, and the team server at work.
