AS button problem

i made this buttons, with actionscript 2 in mx2004, the problem is that the buttons doesnt works… when i want to go to other frame…
on(release){
gotoAndStop(frame);
}

it doesnt works… please tell me what im doing wrong… excuse my bad english…
