I’m building a new website for the place I work and we are putting up three animations which I’ve converted from .wmv’s to .flv’s. For some reason that escapes me, they won’t behave consistently. Sometimes one will play fine locally and another will play over the internet, sometimes not.
I’ve tried various coding solutions, beginning with a simple embed tag, and that worked fine for one but not the other two. I also tried pasting in all the html that Flash generates, and numerous variations between the two extremes.
But nothing works consistently. I’ve remade the .flv’s numerous times to make sure they are all created consistently, and in the proper location, but it doesn’t help.
I’ve also noticed that when I do a test by publishing both the .swf and the .html out of Flash, that version will play locally but not over the network, so that’s a clue but I can’t seem to arrive at a consistent solution. Other .swf’s that are just vector Flash files play fine, it’s the linking of the .flv’s that are inconsistent.
