Basic Dreamweaver question, please read

I don´t know if this the right forum to ask but I have a little question, ok…I just did a HTML design in fireworks, sliced the layout and export it and opened in dreamweaver, I want to write some text in a slice I made only for text, but when I write something the image behind the slice dissappear, I want to be able to write in top of the image, I know it´s something about copying the source of the slice and then paste it in the background or something, anyone can help me??? thanks for ur time…
