hi guys I have about the situation with a design job I just did.
Basically last week I was asked to do a poster for a gig which is happening this week. I finished the poster last Friday and e-mailed a copy off and arranged to pick up my money for the poster that night at a gig in me and the client were both attending.however I didn’t see the person at the show all night so I thought I could just contact them the next day and just forward my the bank details and get paid that way.
The thing is I haven’t had a reply from them since last Thursday and I’ve e-mailed them, left notices on a web forum where I had discussed the poster with a client, left private messages via the same web forum and even tried to contact them via msn messenger but I’ve had not reply. And I know she has been online for the last couple of days and I also know she’s received the poster as she has already displayed it and distributed it to other people who also displaying it online.
I don’t wish to be pessimistic but I think they may try to get out of paying me for my work and time which is something I don’t stand for. I’m just wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what to do about this.
There were no actual contracts signed but their were agreements by e-mail about payment and the deadline which I’ve saved.
I’m not really 100% sure about the next thing that I should take but I was thinking if I don’t hear from them in a couple days sending them an e-mail warning them about breaking a written agreement and possible copyright laws with unauthorized distribution and displaying of a copyright work. And then I guess I can start contacting the bands on the bill and letting them know about what promoters doing. and if worse comes to worse I may have to tell the original promoter who passed on my details to this current ‘promoter’ that I’m not doing any more work for them due to being ripped off by this person whose details of mine they gave out by them.
anyway if anyone can help me with this it would be be much appreciated
