I would like to discuss the best way to accomplish something that I haven’t done previously:
-
Make a SWF to be dynamic so that, when one stretches the browser, the swf expands and contracts.
-
Make content within the SWF - which in this case is a collection of images that are all the same size, wrap in a similar fashion to the way characters or inline CSS elements will wrap within an HTML page.
My goal is to produce something like the image wall on blinkx.com, but take it a step further so that when someone resizes the window, the content can be made to reorder itself accordingly and fill the swf.
Is this possible? While I think I can figure out the blinkx code as it is, I’m not sure about the wrapping on resize.
One thing I have going for me is, all of the “images” in the content will be the same size, 100x100px. Therefore, I figure there must be a way to either:
-
have each object laid out on a grid that is somehow aware of the current size of the swf
-
each object can constantly check to see if it is touching the boundary
-
when the swf changes size (that is, when the user resizes the browser and causes the swf to change dimension, the edge listeners become aware of this and then the list of images can reorder itself.
Sound possible??? How would you more experienced Flashers approach this interesting project??
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
