I came across an instance today where someone was working on a 4MB flash file, with all their images stored in the library and not externally loaded.
I instantly shuddered and told them they should be loading images as they are needed to save on the overall file size of the SWF. They then replied saying I am wrong, 4MB now is nothing and for the size of his SWF, externally loading images would just be a waste of time.
Now i’m thinking about this - am I stuck in the past & have internet speeds gotten to the point where you no longer need to worry about file sizes around the 4-5mb size? I am constantly worried about the dreaded 56k user and their experience - should I no longer be?
What do you guys think?
