BMW’s facelifted i7 is getting Rimac batteries, rare-earth-free motors, and 250 kW charging, but BMW also dropped Level 3 driving from the lineup.
Dropping Level 3 feels like such a weird trade for a flagship, even if the battery/motor changes are genuinely nice. i’m curious how much “cleaner motors” will matter day to day versus just being a good supply-chain story.
“Cleaner motors” is basically invisible day to day unless it changes efficiency or thermal behavior.
Yeah “cleaner motors” feels like marketing until it shows up as better range at highway speeds or less power fade after a couple hard pulls. if it runs cooler/quieter under load, you’ll notice that way more than whatever’s “clean” about it.
