Can flash overlap HTML?

OK here is the problem. I want to make it so my flash menu can overlap the hTML part of my website. Is this possible through Layers in FP or Dreamweaver? I have seen adds with flash that overlap HTML but i KNow thats with some transparent background so i think its possible. Thanks

Mike

what??? I have no idea what you are saying.

like, say you’ve got you swf in a div, and that div has a z-index of 1, then you’ve got whatever you want to go over it in another div, w/ a z-index of 10. the div w/ the 10 will still be under the swf, even tho the z-index says it shouldn’t be…

or at least that’s how it is in ie6

wait, is this what you’re trying to do: make an swf go below text or some other html tag? If so I’m not aware of any way of doing that, but if you’re trying to do what I did and have the html seen through the holes in the movie, then my method works

yea

um… which one?

hum… what you said

you can’t put HTML over a swf.

ah, I have absolutely no idea how to do that, I don’t think you can infact, layer flash and forms below other objects

bombing u are right, visual u are wrong. I am talking about how SWF go ontop not below. Bombing, what browers have u tested it with? Thanks

augn :(, that’s the same thing I suggested, I didn’t know it could do that too though

bombing: on your example page… the html underneath the flash is untouchable in Firefox. can’t click the links… etc. any workaround for this?

if you refresh after the mc has been on them they become inactive, I noticed this too, it’s really annoying but a problem with the flash file, it doesn’t delete the movieclips, it just hides them

well i am so confused, i dont know if i am going to do it because of all the other browsers incompatiblities
