Can the mask, mask color to create b/w

Is it possible for a mask to mask color? I would like my mask to mask the color and only show B/W in the output.

Sparky could you explain this a little better? Not sure exactly what you are meaning to do…

I was wanting the mask to mask the color of the underlying pictures … I just figured out that I could go ahead and make the pictures B/W by clicking on each clip, adding the adjust color filter, and making the saturation -100. So this work-around is fine. Thanks.
