"Cascading" Menu Difficulties

i am trying to creating a “sideways” cascading menu where each button you over on displays several more ssubcategories. you then click on those to get where you want… I have tried several ways to get this to work and every time I do, The second set of buttons that appears when you hover, they blink rapidly when you want to hover on them, and you can click them but there is no action from it… any insight would be so helpfuL.
