I have a copied movie clip, but I want it to appear on another layer,
how would I do that?

I couldn’t get that to do anything different either.
I messed arround with the code and got the movie clip outside the mask
only now the movie clip its in comes with it:diss:.
My fla is massive so ill make a new one with just the relevent clip in it
so you can have a look.
