Changes in AS v6 to v7/8?

i have a simple

loadmovie(“mpvie.swf”, container);

that works fine when I publish to v6 but does not work when published to v7 or v8 - the movie just is not loaded - no error message, Same if I use mx2004 or v8

any ideas?
