Code Help for vs. AI turn based RPS "Fighting Game"?

Hello all,

I’m looking for help on a RPS-based (Rock paper Scissors) fighting game. I think it should be very simple to implement but I only have experience making animations with a stop and play button…help!?

Mechanically, it would be RPS vs the AI. Visually, there would be a player attack turn and a player defend turn using RPS to decide the winner. The result would be shown by an animation, then go to next turn.

For example, rename R,P,S to Punch, Kick, Throw during attack turn and Block, Dodge, Escape during defend turn. Player picks an attack, AI picks a defense (RPS) and the appropriate animation plays, then goes to defend turn, rinse and repeat.

After, say, 5 successful attacks or 5 failed defenses I’d like to load a K.O. animation (ie: Player character does hadouken and match ends…or AI character does the same.)

That’s it. I’ve looked at several tutorials for actual Rock, Paper, Scissors games but with no background in programming I’m not sure where to start on adapting it to play my animations and keep track of 5 hits or 5 failed defend turns. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
