Hi Flashers!
I am totally new here to the Flash world and my very first project (beside the free Flash tutorial to animate a blue ball across the screen), was to create a countdown timer. So I found the perfect one here. http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/countdown.htm .
Now luckily it came with the source code because when I first copy/pasted each of the codes to my counter in Flash, I got a whole whack of errors! I have no idea what went wrong as I did everything senocular wrote down! :crying:
For me, the best way to learn programing is to find a program that is working perfectly and just ‘dissect’ it line by line and just go from there. I may be jumping the gun by learning from a more complicated coded (such as this counter), but on the other hand, it could be a good start.
Anyway my two questions are:
-
[which is probably an embarrassingly simple one], how do I drop the “milliseconds” and the “days” off the timer without having the coding scream at me? I would just like to try and create a time with only the days/hours/seconds.
-
Is there a way to program the counter to count down to a particular time in the future, not just just the day? For instances, I would like the counter to count down to when Christmas dinner is…not just when Christmas day arrives. (So i’d want the timer to look the same, but obviously have a few more hours added onto the countdown which would mean when dinner is to be served that day.)(-:
Anyway, thanks again for this useful site and I hope to learn a lot from you folks!
