Creating Clean URLs (newb alert)

Whats going on guys…

I currently have http://www.blackreefdesign.com up and running (atleast one page so far). All of the files to this page are located in a sub-directory on my server. The sub directory is named, “blackreefdesign”. Whats happening is when you go the site, it will automatically show the sub-directory in the URL bar. So for an example, if you go to the site, it will automatically show you

http://www.blackreefdesign.com/blackreefdesign/

What I want to do is do the Clean URL thing…so not only will it only show “BlackReefDesign.com” at the home page (notice no subdirectory), but no matter what link the user will click on, it will always show just simply BlackReefDesign.com, and nothing else. I would like to learn how to do this so I can apply it to some other sites I have as well.

Now, before I get ahead of myself, I read the Kirupa Tutorial, and have no idea what is going on. All I could do was make the .htaccess file and upload it, anything past that is over my head, lol

For reference, the name of the page that needs to be loaded in the subdirectory is blackreef.html (and all other necessary web page files are in the same directory)

If somebody could help me out, I would be extremely grateful.

Thank You
Joe
