CS3 two-computer activation limit a fiasco

As described in this Adobe FAQ,

a user has the right to install and activate CS3 products in two machines at any given time, provided that both are not used simultaneously and that the person who uses the software is the same both for the “main” and the “sub” machines.

I had a lot of work overdue so I had to take it home to finish it in my computer. When I installed and tried to activate Flash CS3, I got a message that said that the permitted number of activations for the product was exceeded and therefore I could not unlock the trial period.

Now, I unwrapped the thing myself and know for sure that it hasn’t been installed in any other computer but my desktop at work. My home computer qualifies as a “sub machine”, since I am not able to use both my home and work computers simultaneously, and I am “the user who licensed the software”. (Well, technically, my employer is, but it is in my employer’s best interest that I finish the job ASAP, so the point is moot.)

I have been against “Product Activation” since the term started floating around with Microsoft and Symantec, but I never had been trapped in a “glitch” the way I’m now.

Anyone here that has successfully activated Flash CS3 in two computers? Other people that have been stopped by this paranoid mechanism from doing what they are legally entitled to do under the software license terms? Time to hear the stories.
