We need to get a feel for the amount of time/money needed to develop a sign designing application. Here are the general expectations of the app:
[/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]It would have the ability to add text, clipart, upload and place clipart/images[/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2] (PDF, GIF, PNG, JPG)[/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2], scale elements, drag&drop elements, color chooser for clipart/text, and change layer order for an element (send to back, send to front, etc). The artwork canvas would be locked to the aspect ratio of the sign’s dimensions so that it you can be easily scaled for prepress. When the user is done designing their sign they can then save the design ([/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]saving each element’s position,size,color and server location for use if the user needs to modify the design[/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2] later) and then continue on to choosing the sign material and order quantity.[/SIZE][/FONT]
After an order has been placed we’ll need to retrieve the saved design and export as a PDF for prepress placement.
