Decisions, decisions

I’m having problems with deciding how to go about making this flash for a client. It’s supposed to be a demo for this device that calculates speeds, times, etc. for auto races. So there are gonna be 3 demo swf’s that I am going to load externally into a main swf. Each demo has a series of instructions step-by-step on exactly what is happening in both text and on a 3D model of the device I made. Heres my question: How should I go about presenting the text instructions (while working together with the 3D model)? Would it be easier to have numbers representing the step number that the user can jump to and displays the instructions when clicked on, or should I just play through all the instructions like a movie?

I’m kinda new with Flash, but one problem I experienced was that when I am trying to embed text, there is only a limited number of characters it allows me to embed. Am I just dumb or is there a way to get around this?
